On behalf of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance, and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, we are pleased to announce a course in Vaccinology and Immunisation Science has taken place over 8 x 1 ½ hour live virtual sessions which was held from 5th June to 11th September 2024.
A COURSE IN
VACCINOLOGY
AND IMMUNISATION SCIENCE

This practical online course is for people relatively new to the area and for those wanting to broaden and update their understanding of vaccines. Learn about the scientific basis of vaccines, vaccine development and the principles underpinning the introduction and running of immunisation programs.
This includes, but is not limited to, practitioners, academics and researchers, such as primary healthcare and specialist doctors, community and immunisation nurses and pharmacists, those working in public health, government (all levels) and health policy, pharmaceutical industry, regulators, aged care workers, journalists and ethics committee members. We particularly welcome registrations from the Asia Pacific and South Asia regions.

The course is run over eight session, delivered online each fortnight on Wednesdays at 6pm (AEST). Each 1.5 hour session will be facilitated by world-leading Australian and international experts. Sessions will include principles and case studies with opportunities for learner questions and contributions.
Access to course materials, including an extensive preview video library, will only be provided to registrants. Course completion certificates will also be provided.

In 2024, registration for this eight module course is A$200 (standard). Full-fee remission is available for students (undergraduate and postgraduate), Indigenous healthcare workers and those from low and middle-income countries (LMIC).

The vaccine and immunisation ecosystem, from fundamental immunology through modern bioengineering (structure and function-based design) vaccine platforms, to advanced manufacturing capability and deployment.

How immunisation promotes equity and how vaccine acceptance is developed and maintained and hesitancy and confidence are modified.

How vaccine efficacy, effectiveness, safety and impact are measured.
✓
How these elements play out in both established and emerging economies, including in Indigenous and displaced populations.

The key players in the vaccine lifecycle from industry, regulatory and advisory bodies, healthcare providers, governments and consumers.
